Evaluating Saddle Fit – Dr Anne Bondi, Saddle Research Trust – Webinar Replay

This replay of this important professional saddle fit checking webinar was originally hosted by the MSFC Society and is aimed at Saddle Fitters, Veterinarians, Equine Therapists, Equitation Coaches, trainers and competition riders as well as horse owners. It was very well received by all attendees.

In this link to the replay, Dr Anne Bondi, Director of the Saddle Research Trust, discussed her recent highly informative paper “Evaluating the suitability of an English saddle for a horse and rider combination”, which was published in the peer-reviewed journal Equine Veterinary Education in 2019, and was co-authored by Dr Sue Dyson together with Sue Norton and Laurence Pearman from the Society of Master Saddlers.

This evidence-based, comprehensive paper describes an in-depth, systematic protocol for the evaluation of the saddle, the horse and the rider.

The protocol presented includes evaluation of:

• Conformation

• Functional design of the saddle, including the tree and panel

• Use of accessories such as pads and girths

• Ridden assessment.
